Panoramic View of Munich

After an incredible morning exploring the Museum of Urban and Contemporary Art in Munich, we decided to make our way over to the Church of St. Peter located in the heart of the city.  It is the oldest parish church in Munich and features beautiful architecture.  The unique landmark allows visitors to pay 3 euros to climb 299 steps to eventually reach a 360 degree view of the whole city.  After a torturous climb with a few breaks… we finally reached the top.  Out of breathe with throbbing feet, we laughed and  wondered why we put ourselves through that.  However, once we finally made our way through the busy crowd onto the balcony, we understood why this is such a praised landmark.  The wrap around balcony allows for a bird eye view of the whole entire city, including Marienplatz and the Viktualienmarkt. We could even see the beautiful Alps dusted in snow that surround Munich in the distance.  Seeing the city from this height allowed for a whole new perspective, physically and mentally.  I am so glad we decided to climb those 299 stairs.  Best 3 euros I’ve ever spent.
