We left our hostel extra early one morning to begin the long journey into the mountains to two castles of the Bavarian royal family. One train and two busses later we arrived at the foot of a long hill and stepped out into the rain, the Hohenschwangau castle just visible through the fog. The castle, used as a summer getaway for the royal family, was gorgeous and was perched overlooking a gorgeous lake and nestled between the still snow capped Alps.
