Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – Barcelona’s Vintage Life

Barcelona is a city filled with history, and that remains true when looking at the stores around you. As we walked around the city, we noticed an abundance of thrift and vintage stores, especially in the Gothic Quarter. Most have clothes that are being resold, and you can find things from all over the world, including college gear.

When looking at the abundance of these stores, sustainability is an important factor to note. The global awareness of the environmental impact of fast fashion has led to an increase in sustainability and appreciation for second-hand and vintage items. Walking around the city, we like to stop into thrift and vintage stores to see what we can find because we may be able to get the best souvenirs at a small store in a random alley of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter.

The rich heritage and history of Barcelona helped to pave the way for artists from many different generations to pass on old work for people to purchase second-hand. Many stores also have antique items, and there are even vintage markets that will pop up around the city, where we were able to find very interesting jewelry and knick-knacks
