The Mercat dels Encants is one of Barcelona’s largest and oldest markets, featuring a diverse array of vintage items, food, clothing, trinkets, jewelry, shoes, and much more! It dates back to around 1300, making it over 700 years old, and is located right next to Glories station in Barcelona.
The Mercat del Encants has over 301 shops and 9 restaurants where anyone can visit during their open hours on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9 am-8 pm.
On a Saturday afternoon our group decided to venture to the market to find local and thrifted items at a reasonable price. Upon arrival, we underestimated how truly large the market was. It was several floors high with multiple vendors, tents, shops, and restaurants on each floor. In addition it was located under a giant reflective ceiling several feet above the market, giving it an authentic feel during shopping.
The vendors in the market sold different items, including old technology, clothes, and home goods. Clothes dominated the market with many clothing vendors having the similar deal consisting of 1 item for 3 euros and 2 items for 5 euros. But many other shops and tents sold Jordans, current-generation gaming consoles, and some designer items.

Montana and Sara both left the market with bargain deals. Montana bought a vintage shirt and a skirt for 23 euros, while Sara bought a ring for 5 euros. Both were very satisfied and loved their experience.

We only spent about two hours at the market, and we only barely scratched the surface. This market is so large that you could easily catch yourself spending multiple hours there. But with our little time spent we all had a great time. All in all, the trip was worth it, and we’d advise anybody who wants to do some shopping to take a day trip to Mercat dels Encants.
