Tucked away in the ports of the city lies LXFactory, an old industrial complex turned cultural hub with shops, restaurants, and both art galleries and street art. It’s a perfect afternoon getaway for anyone traveling through Lisbon.
We were astounded by the number of stores in such a small area. There was everything from flower shops to rooftop bars. One of the most interesting stores was Ler Devager, which means “read slowly” in Portuguese, and is a massive book/record store. The record station perfectly encapsulated the vibe of LXFactory, having records from modern hip hop artists like Tyler the Creator to Bossa Nova greats like Joao Gilberto.
After we were done walking around, we stopped at one of the cafes inside and tried the traditional Portuguese pastry Pastel de Nata, a delicious custard tart. Once we were done at the cafe, we decided to head back to our hostel, but we’ll never forget our time at LXFactory.
