Banksy comes to Barcelona

British artist Banksy made his name (or at least his alias) with striking street art, but in Barcelona, a city covered with murals and graffiti, his work sits in a museum. Slight irony aside, it’s a creatively designed facility that captures the spirit of Banksy’s style and mission through absorbing exhibits. With displays provided in Spanish, English, Catalonian and French, the museum, reflecting its eponymous artist’s goals and cosmopolitan city around it, appeals to visitors from around the world.

In addition to the usual senior discount, a 11€ joven, or youth ticket is offered for anyone under 25, encouraging young people to explore it. The building has three floors, with the first two exclusively displaying Banksy’s work, and the third also including a graffiti friendly patio that often hosts a local artist. TV’s are also placed throughout that showcase both Banksy’s background and public reactions to his famous street exhibitions.

Once you’re done, there’s a gift shop full of prints, shirts and other merchandise as well a place to pick up a photo you take in a booth at the beginning of your visit. Whether you grab a souvenir or not, you’ll leave with great new memories as you continue to explore Barcelona.
